ST PAUL’S striker Craig Leitch has been made Premiership Football Player of the Year.

He was among three St Paul’s players nominated for the top Dandara Jersey Combination award, following an exceptional season of success for the club. Luke Watson and last year’s winner Mark Lucas were the runners-up.

The award was presented at the annual football awards ceremony, held at the Pomme d’Or Hotel last night.

Leitch, who scored 34 goals for his club this season, caused controversy when he withdrew from the Muratti squad after he was left out of the starting line-up in May. He admitted last night that leaving the squad, who went onto lose to Guernsey, had been a rash decision which he now much regretted.
