JEP West Show promises fun for all
Sunday 4th July 2010, 12:00PM BST.
Motorbike stunts, a falconry display, circus skills and a donkey derby are among the highlights of the JEP West Show, which takes place in St Peter next weekend.
The programme also includes the traditional western parishes cattle show – from which the West Show was born – horse show jumping, mounted games and a musical ride; sheep racing; a display by the Jersey Rockettes cheerleading squad; a companion dog show, dog agility and a fun for dogs; and parades of old motor cars and agricultural vehicles demonstration.
A variety of bands will be entertaining throughout the two days of the event – Saturday and Sunday, 10 and 11 July – and there will be plenty more for all ages at the show being staged at Manor Farm.
The main attractions are the motorcycle stunt team Boddog Lings FMX, Ye Olde Redtail falconry and circus thrills with La Compagnie du Gros Nez Rouge, a group of entertainers whose talents include juggling, plate spinning, fire-eating, cycle acrobatics, wire walking and much more. Dressed as clowns, they will mingle with the crowds around the showground from noon each day.
A wide variety of stalls and trade stands will also be taking space in marquees and around the showground. And, providing you have registered by 8 July, you can bring a country life inspired hat to the show, which is raising money for Headway. The best will win Voisins vouchers. The show will be opened by West Show Association president, Ken Vibert, the Constable of St Ouen, and this will be followed by a rendition of ‘Beautiful Jersey’, sung by Sadie Rennard.
