A SUSPECTED thief was in hospital today with both arms and legs broken after he was chased by bank security staff and fell through a fourth-floor window.

The man, whose identity has not been released but who is in his teens, is believed to have broken into ABN Amro in Castle Street, St Helier, at around 2 am yesterday but set off an alarm which alerted security staff.

A chase around the building is then thought to have taken place before the man tried to escape through a window.

The window overlooks an atrium within the building and it is believed he fell four floors to the ground. His condition this morning was not known, although he is believed to have a number of broken ribs as well as two broken legs and two broken arms.
