NEARLY 200 people in 58 rowing boating will be competing in the annual Sark to Jersey rowing race this year.

The 44th annual crossing, again sponsored by Jersey Post, takes place on Saturday with the flotilla of boats getting under way from Sark’s Dixcart Bay.

The crews will be attempting to break the course record of one hour, 49 minutes and 56 seconds achieved by a Guernsey crew five years ago.

As well as the many novices who take part annually for the first time, the leading contenders from both islands view the race as an inter-insular.
