New faces bolster Jersey rugby
Tuesday 6th July 2010, 3:00PM BST.
THE Jersey RFC’s 1st XV will have a new look to it for their first year in Nation League 2 South, with five new players signed up to play.
They are four ex-Academy players pushing for places and three of last year’s professionals out of contract.
Former captain ‘V’ Vaioleti, second row player Jim Brownrigg and one of the club’s first professionals, Nathan Kemp, have all gone, though V is still in the Island.
By return second row player Nathan Hannay, loose head prop Dai Maddocks, back row player Henno Venter, utility threes’ player Andrew Henderson and former Wasps’ prop Nick Adams have all been drafted into the squad.
Meanwhile JRFC coach Ben Harvey has high hopes for Academy-trained players Will Falle, Aidan McGuire, Aaron Young and Tim Corson.

What’s the point of trying to buy a championship??
It just means locals don’t get a chance.

I sympathise for clubs trying to bring local talent through but ultimately if you want success getting in players from further afield is needed. look how many premiership clubs have english players – it’s a multi national game now…

I agree with Jonno. As a Jerseyman and big Rugby fan I’m extremly proud of what our team has achieved and am looking forward to the next season. The JRFC has a fantastic youth academy which is again is achieving great results, this can only be boosted by having quality players in the squad for our youngsters to model themselves on going forward. Keep it up Jersey and here’s to another sucessful season.
