Jersey win tennis thriller
Tuesday 13th July 2010, 2:59PM BST.
THE Bucktrout Trophy will be staying in the Island after Jersey came back from being 5-2 down to beat Guernsey 9-7 in this year’s tennis inter-insular.
Played at the Caesarean Tennis Club on Sunday, it was close throughout. The Sarnians edged ahead after the eight singles matches and it was neck and neck after the men’s and women’s doubles.
Non-playing Jersey captain Matt Harris said: ‘The match could have gone either way and it was a fantastic fighting effort from the team to come back from a 5-2 deficit to retain the trophy 9-7.’
