Sark to Jersey rowing race
Tuesday 13th July 2010, 3:00PM BST.
Jersey’s women fours triumphed in Saturday’s Sark to Jersey rowing race, while Guernsey dominated the men’s event.
Over 50 boats raced from Dixcart Bay to Bonne Nuit, with the Islands Insurance crew of Christine du Heaume, Helen Tyler, Alison Smithurst, Frankie Le Quélénec and Will Dodds (cox) winning their category, despite them missing the start.
Guernsey took the top places in the men’s event. The first Jersey men’s team over the line were
Paul Coutanche and James Salkeld, who finished fourth overall, and behind them, in seventh place were the first Jersey fours (sliding seat) boat home, Dominion, coxed by June Fosse.
