St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft cuts the ribbon, watched by BhS general manager Guy Henderson

AROUND 30 jobs have been created and £1 million spent on a major refurbishment of the BhS department store in King Street.

The revamped store was officially opened yesterday by St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft. It now boasts Wallis and Dorothy Perkins concessions that are bigger than the existing St Helier stores of those fashion brands.

    Great news unless both the Wallis and DP shops close and we loose more than 30 jobs!

    Also if they close and, I assume, they are locally owned concessions then the profits those shops earned, which is taxed at 20% on their shareholders, will instead go to BHS and Philip Green in Monaco with no tax in Jersey!

    If you read behind this story it may not be as good for Jersey PLC!!!!
