Jersey top of their group in Euro Touch Championships
Saturday 24th July 2010, 2:57PM BST.
HAVING beaten France 12-4 and then Austria 7-2 yesterday, the Island’s Mixed Team top pool B in the FIT European Touch Championships being held at Filton College in Bristol.
Only Scotland at 8am or Germany at 11.30am today can stop them finishing first in their seven team group, after which they play their knock-out games against teams from pool A, currently led by Wales (40 tries for, 10 against, 12 points).
With 35 tries for, compared to second-placed Belgium’s 16 (and 12 points to 7 points), Jersey have beaten the three teams immediately below them which means, if they find their form again, they are well capable of beating the Scots (fifth) and the Germans, who are propping up the table.
