Last-ball victory keeps Jersey U19s in Euro title hung

JERSEY’S cricketers squeezed out a thrilling one-run victory against The Netherlands to make it maximum points from two matches in the ICC Europe under-19 World Cup qualifying tournament yesterday in Derriaghy, Ireland.
Staring defeat in the face, Jersey snatched a last-ball victory when Charles Perchard took the last wicket with a run out off his own bowling.
It was a fantastic victory as The Netherlands, who had two wickets in hand, only required six runs to win off the final 18 balls and they failed to get them thanks to two excellent overs from Perchard and one by Aidan McGuire.
The fielders played their part, too, as Andrew Rabet and Corey Bisson made vital stops in the final over.
