I JUST wanted to say how impressed I am with the standard of live music you enjoy in Jersey and how lucky you are to have such fine artists.

I have just returned to London following a two-month holiday staying with a family in Jersey. I attended a wedding at Gorey Castle, where I saw the best live band I have ever seen. I actually saw them twice – once at the wedding and once at the NSPCC summer ball.

They are called Inside Job and I was amazed when I was told they were local to Jersey. They had great vocals and great brass. It’s rare you see a band of their size (about ten) actually made up of quality musicians. They are a truly hard-working, polished band and they really put on a show.

I also had the pleasure of going to a jazz night at the Savoy Hotel, where I soaked up a true jazz club atmosphere listening to the Text Messengers, another great band.
Your paper seems dominated by bleak times at present, but Jersey has loads to offer, including beautiful beaches and great bands – two of my favourite things!
