Visit by Eleonora
Saturday 24th July 2010, 2:58PM BST.
Hundreds of Islanders turned out to welcome a replica of one of Jersey’s most famous yachts as it sailed into Jersey for the first time this week.
Almost 100 boats gathered off Corbière and Noirmont and dozens of people waved from the shore as Eleonora – an exact copy of the famous racing yacht TB Davis’ Westward – made her way into the Harbour under full sail.
The ship, which is more than 49 metres in length and has 1,100 square metres of sail, spent the day in St Helier harbour before leaving for the UK on Friday morning.
