The announcement by Jersey Post that another 90 jobs are to go but that new staff are being taken on at a lower salary is one of the subjects taken up this week by JEP columnist Christine Herbert.
‘I do believe that there is a clause or two in the new draft law on redundancy that strictly outlaws making people redundant and then taking other people on to do the same job. But then, of course, the new law has not yet been implemented – it is still ‘with the Privy Council’. Where are the lawmakers when we need them?’
