Guernsey hit hard as U19s march on in World Cup qualifier
Monday 26th July 2010, 2:59PM BST.
VICTORY was sweet for Jersey yesterday as they maintained their 100 per cent record in the ICC European Division I under-19 World Cup qualifiers with a 153-run triumph over old foes Guernsey.
Having won the toss opener Daniel McAviney put the wheels truly in motion for a convincing win scoring 114, including partnerships of 60 with Will Falle, who finished on 31 from 30 deliveries, and 56 with Ben Stevens, who reached 25.
McAviney’s sterling century effort was only brought to an end in the final stages of the game as he was the ninth wicket taken with Jersey’s innings coming to a halt at Seapark Oval in Holywood, Belfast, in the 50th over on 229.
