Batting collapse hits hard

JERSEY’S hopes of progressing through the ICC European Under-19 Cricket World Cup qualifier were dented yesterday as they suffered a 123 run loss to Ireland.
It was going well for the previously unbeaten Jersey as they had last year’s U19 World Cup qualifiers pinned at 138 for the loss of seven wickets at the Upritchard Park ground in Bangor, Northern Ireland.
By that stage Alex Noel had taken the prime scalp of danger man Adam Berry for 0 and the spin bowling effort of James Faudemer (3 for 33) and Ben Stevens (2 for 20) was working to good effect.
However, a late surge did the damage as Ireland added 100 runs in the final 20 overs to make their way to 238 from 50 overs.
