Running a marathon? Meet the expert…
Friday 30th July 2010, 2:58PM BST.
RUNNING one marathon would be enough of a challenge for most people – but not for Steve Edwards. He is travelling to Jersey in October to run his 520th race of 26.2 miles.
Since he took up running 30 years ago Steve, of Moreton in Marsh, Gloucestershire, has run a staggering 13,440.6 miles in 513 official marathon races and clocked up no end of records at the same time.
These include running the fastest 500 marathons by an individual athlete, with an average time of 3 hr 18 min.
His next marathon is in the Isle of Man on Sunday 8 August and he will be running six more before he races his 520th – the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon on 3 October.
