Unique Buddhist relics go on show
Friday 30th July 2010, 3:00PM BST.
A UNIQUE collection of Buddhist relics which have travelled around the world are coming to Jersey this weekend.
The pearl-like crystals have been found among the cremation ashes of Buddhist masters and have been displayed in cities throughout Australasia, Asia and South America.
The collection, which is being brought over by the Maitreya Project, last came to Jersey in 2008.
The Maitreya Project encourages people to donate at the relic tours so they can use the money to build a large statue which will in turn bring employment and tourists to India.
The exhibition will open with a ceremony at 10 am tomorrow and the public will be able to view the collection from 10 am until 7 pm on Saturday and Sunday at St James’ Church.
After Jersey the collection will go on to Wales, Bath and Leeds before leaving the UK for Switzerland. For more information visit www.maitreyaproject.org
