Age Concern anger over care costs delay
Tuesday 3rd August 2010, 2:58PM BST.
AGE Concern has criticised States Members for waiting eight years before finding a way to meet the growing cost of elderly care.
Group chairman Daphne Minihane says that she backs the proposal for a two per cent rise in Social Security contributions to cover the cost of care for the elderly, which would stop old people having to sell the homes they have worked all their lives for in order to pay to be looked after.
But she has launched an attack on States Members, who she says find old people an easy target because they do not complain or fight back.
