A NEW kerbside recycling trial in St Helier has had an ‘excellent response’ with nearly half of the residents using it in the first week.

Based on a blue and red coloured bag scheme which has proved successful in Wales, the trial started at 600 La Pouquelaye homes two weeks ago and achieved a 44 per cent take-up rate on the first run.

Municipal services director Debra d’Orleans said that this was an excellent response to the first collection.
