Weir on a season loan in Portugal’s third tier
Friday 13th August 2010, 3:00PM BST.
JERSEYMAN Michael Weir will play his football in the third tier of the Portuguese League this season.
The 19-year-old former De La Salle College student has been retained by Madeira-based Clube Desportivo Nacional, which plays in the top tier, but has gone on a season-long loan to Associao Desportive da Camacha, another Madeira-based club.
The move will give the former Island junior and Jersey Scottish utility player a taste of first-team football as he continues his development towards what could eventually result in a call up to the first team at CD Nacional.
