ANXIOUS customers fear that they could lose thousands of pounds in deposit payments after the sudden closure of a St Helier furniture store.

The Loft, which has been trading in the Parade since November 2007, closed this week with a number of unfulfilled orders. Last night it was unclear whether the shop would reopen.

A sign has been placed on the shop door saying: ‘Due to the director’s ill health we are closed until further notice. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.’
