ANOTHER of the Island’s brightest sporting exports, netballer Serena Guthrie, will not be going to this year’s Commonwealth Games.

The 20-year-old has not been selected for England’s squad of 12 for Delhi because of her lack of experience at senior level.

‘I was a bit gutted when I found out I hadn’t been selected but they said that it wasn’t because I wasn’t good enough, but just that the experience I have isn’t what they need so I couldn’t do much about it,’ she said.

The decision follows news that top Jersey hockey player Beckie Herbert will not be in the England hockey squad, having failed to recover fully after injury.
