Monday 23rd August 2010, 2:59PM BST.
GENEROUS Islanders have donated more than £16,500 since the Jersey branch of the British Red Cross launched its Pakistan Floods Appeal.
An estimated 20 million people have been severely affected by the floods ravaging the country, and aid agencies have warned of a humanitarian catastrophe.
The chairman of the Jersey committee, Andrew Baudains, says that although the flooding began around a month ago the relief effort is still as urgent and pressing as ever.
