Doctors’ regulator to rule on cleared locum

A DOCTOR cleared of the manslaughter of a staff nurse at the Hospital will face the General Medical Council in September for a five-week fitness-to-practise hearing.
Dolores Moyano Ontiveros was cleared last year of causing the death of Elizabeth Rourke in October 2006. Mrs Rourke died after a routine operation, carried out by Dr Moyano, went wrong.
The GMC has decided to hold the fitness-to-practise hearing, more than 18 months after the Royal Court trial, to consider a case of ‘impairment by reason of misconduct’. It follows GMC investigations into Dr Moyano.
