Nigel Mansell and sons Leo and Greg take top spot on the podium after securing their first Le Mans series win

IN only their third race, the Beechdean Mansell Motorsport team took the chequered flag to record their first Le Mans Series win at the 1000 km of the Hungaroring in Hungary last weekend.

Leo and Greg Mansell shared the driving duties in the six-hour race on the tight and twisty 3.7 km track and it was older brother Leo who took the chequered flag, winning LMP1 and finishing seventh overall, after a gruelling race that saw many of their rivals fall by the wayside.

The Ginetta Zytek GZ09S ran consistently, and almost faultlessly, in the hands of the two Mansell brothers. Father Nigel, who was taking a break from driving after his Le Mans accident, was on hand to celebrate with his boys and the rest of the Beechdean Mansell Motorsport team.

Leo said: ‘It’s unbelievable. I think it is still sinking in, but we set our stall out at the beginning of the weekend to finish the race, to have as few problems as possible and to get to the finish.’
