‘Glamping’ proposal to help Durrell wildlife raise funds

PLANS to introduce an upmarket camping site close to the Durrell wildlife park are being considered to help the trust fight back against the recession.
Trust chief executive Paul Masterton said that they were continually looking at new ways to raise revenue and were currently working on plans to become involved in the world of upmarket camping, or ‘glamping’ (glamorous camping), in which visitors can enjoy luxury camping with expensive equipment and facilities.
Mr Masterton said they would have to gain planning permission before being able to go ahead with this project in which upmarket tents would be sited, on Durrell land just outside the wildlife park.

Celebrate! More development on green fields! But somebody needs to pay for the fat cats. For example, the Trust chief executive Paul Masterton’s £120,000 per annum salary (as published in their latest annual report).

No matter what they try to do ,I’m affraid that place is doomed for closure.Its a charity,not a business so why is this guy earning £120,000.Crazy!!

would welcome camp site as hotels too expensive, but don’t own caravan, what a joy to hear the animals too!
