A LOCALLY based television production company has added Jersey to a list of exotic destinations that will feature in a series of programmes for the US Travel Channel.

The Island will join places such as Bora Bora, Dubai, Mauritius, Jamaica, Monaco and Cannes to feature in the series being made by Hall TV.

And the 25-minute programme about the Island will have its première at the Jersey Arts Centre as part of the Branchage film festival next month.

Hall TV, which is based in St Aubin, is in the process of making 26 World Class programmes for the Travel Channel which it is filming in high tech HDcam.

The Americans are full of self-importance & love nothing more than to rewrite history.

Jersey will be marketed as this tiny island that America liberated from the Nazis

This is a great idea! I’m living in North America and everyone knows everything about Guernsey because of the cruise ships and potato cookbook, and they are fascinated. People I have met in remote areas have been to Guernsey, some think it is the prettiest place in the world. They have only vaguely heard of Jersey because it has never been marketed over there. Jersey has huge amounts to offer Americans – it would be a “new” destination, two castles, fascinating history, close to St. Malo and the landing beaches, beautiful scenery, Durrell Zoo, Michellin restaurants, sailing, the list goes on, and its all in one place, they don’t have to travel for miles – Americans never have time. Jersey should just go upmarket with toursim, it cannot compete with cheap places. Jersey IS unique. Anyone who has visited America must surely recognise the appealing contrast of a place like Jersey. Perhaps the airlines should offer some type of direct flight?
