Jersey Post ‘surprised’ by speed of competition process

OPENING the Island’s postal market up to competition is not a problem for Jersey Post, but the speed of the process is, says the organisation’s chief executive.
Ian Carr said that if Jersey’s competition watchdog, the JCRA, gives the go-ahead for postal licences to CitiPost DSA and HubEurope, it would open up 90 per cent of the market to competition.
He was speaking after this week’s Jersey Post and Competition sub-panel of the Economic Affairs Scrutiny panel hearing. ‘We are surprised at the speed and scale of the market opening, and decisions surrounding those licences are due out in October,’ he said.
