THE Island’s Commonwealth Games team have delayed their departure to Delhi on ‘health, safety and security’ grounds.

Some of the 53-strong team of competitors and officials were meant to fly out this morning, but the whole team will now fly out together on Tuesday.

The team’s general manager, Paul Huddlestone, will be monitering the the situation in Delhi up to their departure.

Despite reports of the athletes’ village still not being ready – and a new danger of flooding – the Jersey competitors have adopted a pragmatic approach and remain keen to travel.
