Increase in number of house fires
Saturday 25th September 2010, 2:56PM BST.
ISLANDERS are being encouraged to learn more about fire safety after figures showed a dramatic increase in accidental fires in the home.
Last month figures revealed that house fires were up 62 per cent and as a result the Jersey Fire and Rescue service is organising a number of events to help Islanders stay safe.
The first will be drop-in days at the Western Fire Station, Red Houses, next Tuesday 28 September and Friday 3 December between 10 am and 4 pm, where community fire safety officers will be on hand for advice and information.
