KICKING and punching in school normally lands you in detention – but for pupils at Le Rocquier, it could just result in a GCSE.
The school’s Year 11 pupils have become the first in Jersey, and some of the first in Britain, to be offered kickboxing classes as part of their GCSE PE syllabus.
During the seven-week course, run by former British kickboxing champion Mick McCue of Jersey’s community sports development team, pupils are learning the theory and practical moves of the popular martial art.

Great idea! I would have loved PE all those 16 years ago if this is what we were able to do!
I think it will give the kids good discipline and maybe some will realise 1. They aren’t as hard as they think they are and 2. It will give the less confident ones a bit of self esteem
Well done Le Rocquier!

What a great idea !!!
I am quite sure that this is the main, very important skill, lack of which (on GCSE) stops graduates from finding decent job!
Well done Le Rocquier!

To post 3. More often than not people taken GSCE in sports will go onto A level in Sports and a degree in say sports management or similar or straight into the sports industry or sports teacher and therefore i should imagine gaining a GSCE in sports would become very handy on their CV as it would be the start of their school exams and professional exams to enter the business of sports.
