JERSEY-based stamp company Stanley Gibbons has paid £1.5 million to another Island-headquartered publicly listed company to acquire its first-day cover business.

Stanley Gibbons has bought the Benham division of St Lawrence-based Flying Brands. Island businessman Martin Bralsford is the chairman of Stanley Gibbons, which is a London AIM market listed company that deals in stamps and collectibles and was established in 1856.

The firm, which has an office in Vine Street, says it had bought the ‘trade and assets’ of Benham, which trades in first-day covers and collectibles.
