EU deal secures thousands of jobs in funds industry

THOUSANDS of local jobs in Jersey’s funds industry have been secured by the deal agreed by EU finance ministers this week.
The accord between the European powers was described as ‘great news’ by the chairman of the Jersey Funds Association, Nigel Strachan.
He said that the Island could now send out a clear ‘open for business’ sign and that the decision, which is expected to be ratified by the European Parliament next month, would safeguard the employment of many Islanders.
