THE final touches have been made to the floor on the south side of the Town Church, which has undergone extensive restoration over the last few years.
The congregation is now due to move back into the south side of the building on 7 November so that work can begin on the north side.
Colin MacDonald Stonemasons, who have also recently carried out all the granite work on the new Jersey Dairy, have been working on the church for nearly four years.
During that time, Mr MacDonald said the project had kept him very busy, but there was still more to go.
‘We have repointed the outside of the building, laid new flagstones on the inside and repointed and replastered the inside,’ he said.
‘We have been there nearly four years now and this is the first phase now complete. We will now be moving to work on the other side.’
The work is part of the restoration of the church, the oldest parts of which date back to the 10th or 11th centuries.
