Hit by a tsunami

AN Islander has described the terrifying moment when his boat was struck by a tsunami and swept into another yacht in a surfers’ paradise bay in Indonesia.
Chris Love was working as a chef on Freedom 3 when it was hit by the three-metre-high wave late on Monday, just minutes after the country was rocked by a 7.7-magnitude earthquake.
The surf charter boat, owned by Islander Jon Wilkinson, was dragged more than 200 metres across Macaronis Bay, in the Mentawai Islands, off western Indonesia, before being flung into another yacht, which then exploded. Everyone on board both vessels miraculously escaped unharmed.
