Move to end clashes on scallop dredging

SCALLOP dredgers have been banned from a huge area of Jersey’s coast after clashing with divers over rights to fish in shallow waters.
Problems began earlier this year after at least one dredger started operating in the shallow coastal water traditionally fished by the Island’s scallop divers.
Now, following a meeting of the Fisheries and Marine Resources Advisory Panel, the dredgers have agreed to a ban on fishing along parts of the north, east and south coasts.
