Bowls bids to bridge gap

BOWLS Jersey will be advertising for a sports development officer this week.

The position was discussed and accepted at a heated meeting by members in September and now a job description has been drawn up it is full steam ahead to find someone suitable to help promote and develop the sport on the Island. The position will be part-time between 20 and 25 hours a week.

Bowls Jersey president Lawrence de Gruchy said: ‘Bowls Jersey will finance the new sports development officer. We’ve seen the success of development officers in others sports and we are looking to appoint somebody to help us build up our numbers and move forward in the sport.’
