JERSEY’S dramatic ‘golden goal’ in the final seconds of their third round England Hockey Trophy match against Slough has been rewarded with a home draw for their next encounter.
It was a tense third round meeting on Sunday, and with nothing to separate the two sides at full time, the game went into golden goal extra time, with Jersey’s Rob Cuming finally hitting the target.
Coach Shelagh Herbert said: Jersey put in a fantastic team performance. I think we will have surprised Slough. They are a good team with some classy players but I was so impressed with the quality of our defensive play.’
The Investec-sponsored men’s side have now been drawn against Ashford in their last 16 game to be played on 13 February.
