IF any member of the Butters family are interested in learning about the family’s African connections, David Smith may be able to help them.
He has emailed us to say that he has an original certificate of baptism for Olga Alexandra Dudley Butters, daughter of Eli Butters and Daisy Butters (formerly Blake) and born 20 January, 1911.
‘This document is signed by the Rev Edward Sweeney of St Mary and St Peter’s Church dated 10 October 1920,’ he continues.
‘I think Olga was the sister of my late father-in-law Eli Walter George Butters and I wanted to know if there were any relatives of this part of the Butters family in Jersey that would like to get in touch with me and find out more about the Butters family African connection.’
They can contact Mr Smith by email at davesmith@afriguide.co.za.
