Former British and Irish Lion Austin Healey has warned Jersey rugby star Matt Banahan against taking an international gamble at centre – insisting his best position is on the wing.

The 28-year-old made his first start of the autumn internationals against Samoa last Saturday, wearing the England 13 Jersey after first-choice Mike Tindall was rested by boss Martin Johnson.

All five of his previous England starts had been  on the wing but, Banahan has signalled his intention to permanently switch to centre.

He could get another chance to answer pundits critical of his positional move this afternoon, as the 28-year-old is on the bench for England against world champions South Africa at Twickenham.
