The Airport runway is expected to reopen at 2.30 pm on Sunday

THE runway at Jersey Airport is to remain closed all day on Sunday because of adverse weather conditions.

It was hoped that the overnight snow would be cleared so that the runway could reopen this afternoon.

However, at 3pm, it was announced that the airport runway would remain closed until 05.45 am on Monday.

Islanders are among thousands of passengers who have had travel plans disrupted because of the overnight snow here and severe weather in the UK and Europe. Hundreds have been stranded at airports as they wait for conditions to improve.

In Jersey, passengers are being asked to contact their respective airline for further information.
