Snow’s return brings fresh travel misery
Monday 20th December 2010, 2:59PM GMT.
HUNDREDS of Islanders had their Christmas holiday plans dashed this weekend when the icy weather caused travel chaos across Britain and northern Europe.
Thousands of travellers were forced to sleep in airport terminals and with the Met Office warning that more snow is set to fall in the UK this week, people hoping to get away for Christmas still face an anxious wait.
Jersey Airport’s runway was closed yesterday but reopened this morning when early flights to Gatwick, Southampton and Guernsey took off.

Doesn’t much matter if Jersey is open as Gatwick & Heathrow are both closed. I spent 3 days on the floor at Gatwick last January, I’m staying here for Christmas this year. I’ll miss the in laws but my wife has promised to nag me constantly and burn the turkey so it’ll feel just like being with them.
