St Peter’s key man
Thursday 23rd December 2010, 3:00PM GMT.
A BRACE of first-half goals from striker Ryan Le Cornu steered St Peter to a 2-1 preliminary round Trinity Shield victory against St Ouen at Les Quennevais last night.
Le Cornu took advantage of a couple of St Ouen defensive errors in a game where both teams worked hard in cold and blustery conditions. St Ouen eventually gained a late consolation with a strike from distance by defender Ollie de Gruchy.
St Peter manager Jon Welsh said: ‘We deserved to win and our winning margin should have been bigger. Our goals could be described as scrappy; but you take them when they come along.
‘It was great to see two relatively young teams; it bodes well for the parishes in the future. Unfortunately we lost Bradley Cooper with a bad cut to his lip and it resulted in him having six stitches.’
