THERE have been mixed fortunes for Jersey netballers on the national stage in the run up to Christmas.
It is joy for Serena Guthrie as the 20-year-old Team Bath star is a welcome inclusion in the latest England squad after missing out on a place at this year’s Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
However, after a surprise invite to a weekend of training with the England under-17 and U19 squad in Sheffield, Romy Smith has not been offered a place to join them full-time.
Nevertheless, the Team Jets and Accies star shooter could still make her way to the top, following the traditional qualification route, as she has still has a spot at the South West regional screening camp in January.
