Good and bad news for festive swimmers
Friday 24th December 2010, 2:57PM GMT.
FOR Islanders wishing to take the plunge in the various Christmas Day swims, there is good and bad news.
The bitter winds that have plagued the Island for the last few days will have died down, but the sea temperature will be just eight degrees – three degrees lower than normal.
Forecasters have also all but ruled out the chance of snow on Christmas Day.
Following weeks of wintry weather, Jersey Met Office says the big day is likely to be dry, sunny and cold with only a very slight chance of seeing the odd snowflake. However, there is a slight chance that the Island will see snow on Monday or Tuesday.
There are swims organised at Ouaisné at 10.30 am and at Havre des Pas and St Catherine’s at 11 am.
