Vasiliou sends U18 tennis seeds crashing

JERSEY’S Max Vasiliou and Guernsey’s Georgina Denton have emerged victorious in the latest round of the Under-18 Channel Islands Winter County Tennis Series.

The boys’ event stuck to the form book until the semi-finals when Vasiliou ousted second seed Stuart Parker, using solid baseline play to carve out a 4-2, 4-2 victory.

His opponent in the final was top seed Daniel Harrison, who came through a challenging semi-final with a championship tiebreak win over Scott Weaver 4-2, 3-5, 1-0 (4).

In the girls’ event Denton ruled the roost, winning her three matches in straight sets
