SHOPPERS have been out in force since the Christmas sales began at 5 am on Monday, leaving retailers feeling positive about the holiday period.

Town was extremely busy on Monday, the first day of the sales, and Chamber of Commerce president Ray Shead said that all feedback he had received from retailers was good.

‘There have been lots of people around, it’s been very busy,’ he said.
‘There are lots of bargains around and I think people were glad to get out and about after three days of being at home.’
