Wedding gifts? Why not give to charity?

The Royal couple have asked that donations be made to charity in lieu of wedding gifts
ISLANDERS who are getting married can now follow in the footsteps of the Royal couple by encouraging people to donate to charity instead of buying gifts.
From sponsoring the cost of a homeless person staying for a night at the shelter to paying for a disabled child to ride a horse or a week’s worth of dog food for the Animal Shelter, the options for a wedding gift list are endless.
The scheme has been organised by the Association of Jersey Charities and follows the decision by Prince William and Kate Middleton to ask people to donate to charity rather than buy gifts for their wedding on 29 April.
The organisation is now hoping that Islanders will consider creating their own gift list with local charities featuring details of what certain donations could buy.

If this turns out to be anything like donating to a charity in lieu of flowers at a funeral, you are likely to be pestered wih mailshots from the charity for the rest of your days.
Why don’t charities take no reply to mean “Please don’t contact me any more”?

Good on you Wills & Kate. Great example.
Although there is the fact that you can of course afford practically anything you desire anyway – doh!!!
