MORE people would buy goods locally if retailers had their own websites where purchases could be made when the shops are shut, according to the results of a survey conducted by media business Webreality.

The survey found that more than four out of five people would spend more with local retailers if they could access websites where they could shop 24 hours a day.

But seven out of ten said that it would be ‘vital’ or ‘important’ that prices offered by Jersey shops trading online matched the lowest that could be found elsewhere on the web.

However, six out of ten said that they would be prepared to spend about ten per cent more to get something they needed immediately.

Webreality chief executive Matthew Robins said that the results indicated an obvious opportunity for Jersey retailers.
