The Royal Court building
A MAN dressed only in his underpants stormed into his neighbour’s flat brandishing a two-foot machete above his head, the Royal Court has heard.
William Brown Lockhart (46) ‘snapped’ after the noise of two men installing a new kitchen in the nearby flat got too much, and after grabbing the machete from its place near the door, the court was told, he marched over to the flat.
Moments later the door to the flat, which was ajar, swung open to reveal a fuming, and very drunk, Lockhart, who was frantically waving the weapon and making threats. Although neither victim was struck with the knife, a door, wall and uninstalled kitchen unit were damaged in the two-minute attack.
On Friday in the Royal Court Lockhart was sent to prison for 18 months after admitting two counts of grave and criminal assault and one of malicious damage.
